Our events provide an opportunity for our neighbors to experience the Edible Schoolyard. Learn more below about our events and mark your calendars to join us.
As a nonprofit organization, we depend on donations and sponsorships from our community to help support our educational ecosystem. Additionally, we hold events to include the community in our garden experience and help raise funds to support our efforts. We invite all to join us at our annual events listed below!
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT
Join us for a wildly different evening on Friday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at our signature annual fundraiser, Toast & Taste! This highly anticipated event, held in our breathtaking Buena Vista garden, promises to be unlike any other.
Embark on a culinary journey curated by acclaimed celebrity chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois, known for his unique creations influenced by his time in France, Napa Valley, the Caribbean and Southern Louisiana. Renowned for culinary mastery showcased on MeatEater, Bourgeois will craft a menu inspired by locally sourced protein, and produce from the Buena Vista garden.
Help us support edible education in Kern County and provide scholarships for students in Arvin and Shafter to attend ESYKC 2024 Summer Camps. Every penny from this event will play a crucial role in empowering children from disadvantaged communities with essential edible education.
Come together with fellow food enthusiasts, local businesses, sponsors and partners to Toast & Taste the season. Be captivated by live music by Moonshiner Collective, connect with like-minded individuals and foster a sense of community as we showcase the finest locally sourced and grown foods from Kern County.
Together, we can improve the academic, social and emotional well-being of students and their families. Your participation will make a difference, and we look forward to having you with us!
Note that the event is restricted to those aged 21 and above.

Spring Plant Sale
At our annual Spring Plant Sale we welcome the community into our edible garden to purchase plants for your home and support edible education in our community.
Spring is the ideal time to plant a home garden. Our Annual Spring Plant Sale has become a signature community event that marks the beginning of the season.
During the plant sale, you’ll have the opportunity to see our working garden and experience how our students and campers learn about the seed-to-table cycle.
Browse through dozens of different vegetables, herbs and flowers that are ready to be transplanted at your home. Our staff of Garden and Kitchen Educators are also available to help you understand the basics of gardening.
