Cultivate your green thumb and learn to care for your seasonal vegetable garden with tips + tricks from our garden educators.

Gardening 101 - English

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of transplanting your plants to your home garden, simple pest management techniques, and best practices will be shared to help your garden thrive. In no time, you will have a fresh seasonal bounty for your dinner table.

There is a nominal fee attached to this workshop to ensure your attendance. The cost will be offset by a free plant upon your arrival.

Gardening 101 - Español

Aprende como mantener tu jardín con lecciones de nuestros maestros de el Jardín aquí en la Edible Schoolyard. En este taller aprenderá como trasplantar tus vegetales, como mantener las plantas saludables, y te daremos tips para que tengas una grande cosecha para tu cena.

Este taller tendrá una pequeña tarifa para asegurarnos que lo atenderás. El costo del taller te asegura una planta gratis cuando atiendas la clase.

Soil Fertility + Compost

This garden workshop is designed with the more seasoned gardeners in mind. In this workshop, you will learn the complexities of soil and plant fertility to enhance your garden for years to come. This workshop will be led by our friend, Joel from California State University Bakersfield who manages the edible garden on campus. Joel is a wealth of extensive knowledge of plant and soil health.

Toast & Taste

Welcome the fall season with a memorable evening in the Buena Vista Edible Schoolyard Garden. Toast & Taste features locally-sourced food & drinks, featured across different tasting stations curated by the culinary experts of the Edible Schoolyard Kern County.

Toast & Taste is our signature community fundraiser. All proceeds benefit Edible Schoolyard Kern County. The event is 21+ only.
